Our Place Waldorf’s mission is to provide Charles County, Maryland residents in need with a nutritious meal, friendship, and additional resources in a comfortable unbiased environment. Created in 2012, we serve dinner on Mondays and Thursdays at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, located at 305 E. Smallwood Drive, Waldorf, Maryland 20602.
Soup Kitchen Program Coordinator will help to manage the flow of dinner service at Our Place Waldorf.
•Understand and manage the day-to-day business inside the soup kitchen
oStrong customer service and organizational skills are necessary
oMust be timely and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
•Foster a welcoming, productive, and safe environment, sensitive to the needs of guests
•Ensure volunteers are placed in appropriate roles and that each station is properly manned
•Oversee the workings of the kitchen, the food distribution, and donated goods distribution
•Represent the Soup Kitchen during food distribution hours
•Report to and communicate regularly and effectively with Executive Director
•Open for dinner service at 3:00 and close at 7:00 on Mondays and Thursdays
•Oversee volunteers: Maintain an attendance tracking system, assign duties and enforce protocols,
•coordinate set-up, meal execution, and clean-up, assist with duties wherever needed, adhere to all Department of Health Services requirements
•Maintain food closet
oOrganize and track inventory
•Coordinate with external partners
oCommunicate and maintain relationships with meal sponsors
oDetermine dinner menus
•Grocery shop for meals as neededQualifications
•Be physically mobile and able to lift up to 50lbs.
oGrocery shopping for dinner service is required as needed.
•Have your own vehicle. Mileage reimbursement is available.
•Minimum High School Diploma.
oManagement/Coordinator experience preferred.
•15-20 hours per week. Must be available Mondays and Thursdays 3-7pm.
oThe other hours are flexible and include administrative duties such as phone calling, coordinating volunteer hours and dinner sponsors as well as meal scheduling, food pantry organization, and grocery shopping.
