Fahrney’s Pens is seeking a full-time Marketing & Communications Coordinator for our Maryland based company headquarters to oversee multi-channel marketing programs. This includes our e-commerce website, direct mail catalog & retail store (located in downtown, DC). We are a family-owned & operated company that has been a Washington, DC landmark business since 1929, recognized nationally as a premier retailer of fine writing instruments.

Responsibilities:

  • Development & execution of innovative marketing & communications strategies
  • Report directly to the company President, work closely with the Creative Director, Merchandise Director & Catalog Support
  • Oversee & direct our off-site marketing agency on website content and marketing
  • Planning & management of our social media presence to expand brand awareness
  • Managing marketing budgets & co-op, working closely with our vendors & Creative Director
  • Ability to organize & manage multiple projects including web-based product promotions, in-store events, signage, classes, product videos & social media events
  • Become knowledgeable of our full product line & provide instruction to our sales & call center staff
  • Work closely with our Creative Director & Merchandise Manager in organizing catalog production, including: collecting merchandise information, photo samples, copy & delivery dates from our vendors as well as proofreading the catalog

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of marketing experience
  • BA/BS or higher in relevant field
  • Excellent written & verbal communications skills
  1. Proofreading
  2. Copy editing
  3. Creating & maintaining media contacts
  4. Drafting scripts for marketing videos
  • Strong organization skills with attention to detail
  1. Event planning
  2. Publication scheduling
  3. Coordinating meetings with vendors & web agency
  4. Overseeing production schedules & deadlines
  • Creative thinker with the ability to generate new ideas & move them through implementation
  • Knowledge of analytics tools relating to marketing objectives to measure effectiveness of email & social media campaigns
  • Self motivated, outgoing & collaborative, especially under pressure
  • A team leader able to motivate staff to encourage input, increase sales & job satisfaction
  • Strong media and web publishing experience
  • Retail and merchandising experience a plus
  • Experience supervising staff and outside contractors
  • Experience in design, layout and production using Adobe Creative Suite (i.e. Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
