BUSINESS SERVICES REPRESENTATIVE 

Opening Date: April 30, 2018

Closing Date:  June 29, 2018

 General Description

Act as liaison within the community on behalf of the Southern Maryland Workforce Development Board in outreach, recruiting and information gathering activities.  Coordinates resources and information related to the support of Board projects.  Analyzes and reports findings and solutions based on data collection.  Aids in the development of strategic plans that meet the workforce needs of Southern Maryland.  Engages the business community in active participation in Board sponsored programs.

 

Duties

Aggressively target and identify employer and community workforce resource needs

 

 

Create action plans and form alliances to aid in addressing these needs

 

Assist in the identification of training and/or grant resources

 

Conduct information employer interviews and surveys for needs assessment

 

Utilize local labor market and resource information to forecast labor market trends and needs

 

Identify local employment opportunities for entry into state MIS system

 

Build and sustain employer/industry relationships; educate and inform business regarding JobSource services and benefits

 

Prepare presentations and marketing material for proposed initiatives

 

Provide administrative support to board committees as assigned

 

Any and all other related duties as assigned

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

 

Knowledge of Southern Maryland community, resources and industry

 

Ability to maintain effective working relationships with businesses, local public and private agencies

 

Ability to communicate effectively and express ideas clearly, both orally and in writing and to produce accurate, detailed reports and presentations

 

Ability to work as a member of a team and to prioritize and organize multiple tasks

 

Strong time management skills necessary

 

Project management

 

Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office and the Internet

 

Ability to work effectively in a rapidly changing environment

 

Education and Experience

 

Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, economic development or related field.

Four years of progressive experience in project management, marketing, sales, planning, research, or employment and training operations related fields, which required a high degree of marketing and management services. 

 

Special Requirements – Conditions of Employment

 

Daily access to a vehicle

 

Clean driving record

 

Clean background check

 

Ability to work evenings and weekends as required

 

The Council is committed to providing the necessary equipment to perform this job. Employees are required to have electronic equipment provided by the Council. Employees are responsible for the equipment and replacement and will sign a form agreeing to this condition.

 

May be required to work in Calvert, Charles and St. Mary’s Counties

 

 

Starting salary range based on education and experience - $46,098-$50,506.
