St. Mary’s College of Maryland at Historic St. Mary’s City is accepting résumés for a one-year, contingent position of Assistant Coordinator of Accessibility Services. The Assistant Coordinator of Accessibility Services is responsible for assisting with the delivery of accommodations and support services to students with a range of disabilities, including, but not limited to, ADD/ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, anxiety/depression, physical and sensory disabilities, chronic illnesses, and assorted learning disorders. The Assistant Coordinator of Accessibility Services will collaborate with appropriate faculty and staff to facilitate student academic success, and works with students to help them adapt to the challenges of college. The Assistant Coordinator will manage the Testing Center and help students with assistive technology. This is a full-time, contingent position that could be eligible for medical benefit subsidy.
Qualifications include: Bachelor’s degree required; at least two years’ experience in accessibility services, counseling, or a related field, preferably in a higher education setting; familiarity with and commitment to a model of undergraduate liberal arts education; experience working with and coaching students with disabilities in a secondary or higher education setting; excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills; knowledge of and experience with assistive/adaptive and instructional technologies; commitment to working with and supporting the needs of a diverse population. Any combination of acceptable education and experience, which has provided the necessary knowledge and skills to fulfill the requirements of this position, may be considered. Employment will be contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check.
