Historic St. Mary’s City is seeking a Development Manager. Applications are being accepted now. A full job description is available upon request.
Historic St. Mary’s City (HSMC) is a museum of living history and archaeology located on the site of Maryland’s first capital (1634 – 1695). Decades of research are the foundation of outdoor exhibits constructed in a beautiful tidewater landscape. Recreated structures in the historic town center, a Woodland Indian hamlet, a tall ship, and a tobacco plantation staffed by costumed or uniformed interpreters help visitors understand the stories of Maryland’s founding. Reconstruction of the Brick Chapel of 1667 stands for a symbol of the religious freedom established by the Lords Baltimore in the seventeenth century.
HSMC is one of Southern Maryland’s leading tourism attractions and hosts an active school tour program. The museum is an independent agency of the State of Maryland, within the Office of the Governor.
Reporting to the Director of Business Enterprises, the Development Manager is responsible for fundraising initiatives of the Foundation, coordinating its activities with the HSMC Commission, and providing administrative support for the Foundation. The Manager currently supervises one full-time staff member, the membership and volunteer coordinator and receives support from other museum departments, such as External Relations, Education, and Administration. In coordination Foundation members and with the support of relevant Commission staff, he/she focuses primarily on growing the annual giving and membership programs with the aim of cultivating individual donations, while maintaining relationships with existing donors. The Manager might also seek sponsorships, researching and writing grant proposals and providing reports as required. The Manager is also responsible for coordinating the annual Beerfest and other Foundation fundraising events. The Manager will have annual fundraising goals. A detailed job description is available upon request.
HSMC is an EEO organization.
