St. Mary’s College of Maryland, The National Public Honors College, is accepting applications for the position of Admissions Counselor. Responsibilities include: Planning, scheduling and implementing recruitment visits to high schools, and college fairs, community-based organizations, and community colleges; counseling and interviewing prospective students; evaluation of applications; attendance at on and off campus recruitment events, and special projects. Requires overnight travel and some weekend work.
Qualifications include, but are not limited to: Bachelor’s degree; a valid driver’s license and eligible to drive leased automobiles; must be willing to work nights and weekends as required; a commitment and understanding of issues and concerns of high school and college-age students; a working knowledge of various computer software packages (word processing, spreadsheet applications, and Admission CRM programs); ability to lift at least 25 pounds; must have strong organizational, problem-solving and analytical skills; must possess an enthusiastic commitment to the development of a diverse applicant pool and student body, and an appreciation of a liberal arts and sciences education at a small, residential college. Strong speaking, writing, and interpersonal skills are essential. The ability to interact with diverse groups of people and a good sense of humor are highly desirable. Any combination of acceptable education and experience, which has provided the necessary knowledge and skills to fulfill the requirements of this position, may be considered. Employment will be contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check.
