The Saint Mary’s County Metropolitan Commission is seeking a motivated Engineering Intern to support the engineering department by performing elementary civil engineering and/or GIS work. This includes assisting in calculating, drafting/sketches; with field investigations and construction inspection; utilizing GPS to perform mapping of water and sewer facilities and assisting in updates of the paper mapping files.
About the organization: The Saint Mary’s Metropolitan Commission was created by the State Legislature in 1957 as a quasi - governmental, non profit body, to supply water and sewer service to St. Mary's County. MetCom has been providing service since 1964.
Requirements: Applicant must be currently enrolled on a full or part-time basis at an accredited 2-4 year college or university, having earned at least 12 credit hours and maintaining at least a 2.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to apply mathematical concepts to engineering problems and to prepare completed exhibits, maps, drawings and plans; ability to operate relevant computer systems, including hardware and software, and office machines.
Salary: $13 per hour. (no benefits).
