Duties, Experience, Skills, Requirements, and Information:
Provides professional knowledge and expertise in the operation and support of environmental health and safety programs in compliance with regulatory agency guidelines and institutional policies in accordance with SOW paragraphs 5.9.7, 5.10, and 12, CDRL A007, NAVAIRINST 3710.1 series (Contractor's Flight and Ground Operations), and DFARS 252.228-7001. Responsibilities will include the coordination and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure a safe and healthy working environment in the areas of aviation material readiness, radiation safety, biological and chemical safety, environmental protection, physical safety, hangar safety, industrial hygiene, fall protection, and other safety procedures and processes in support of departmental and institutional safety programs. Performs Quality Assurance (QA) for contractor QA programs applicable to AVMI. Must be proficient with MS Office.

o    Performs as the contractor Safety Coordinator.
o    Principal duties include management, implementation, enforcement, and maintenance of contractor GOPs as defined by NAVAIR 3710.1 (series) and other documents, processes, and procedures relevant to APSD functions (e.g. NAMP).
o    Continually reviews GOPs relative to work accomplishments to ensure GOPs are adequate for the job being done.
o    Responsible for GOP training/certification tracking and compliance.
o    Responsible for safety briefings and safety programs needed by the contractor working under this contract including, but not limited to, Hangar Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Fall Protection, and other OSHA/NASPAX/APSD safety procedures and processes.
o    Performs as the contractor Coordinator for tool control, EMI/ESD, Hazmat, FOD, and all other aviation maintenance programs applicable to APSD. Responsible for general oversight of contractor workmanship issues.
o    Working knowledge of NAVAIR 3710.1G and COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2B
o    Ability to keep overarching goals in mind when solving issues
o    The understanding and application of Root Cause Analyses when identifying GOP failures
o    Ability to create, analyze, and update processes to ensure GOPs reflect current operations and requirements
o    Must be proficient with MS Office and able to utilize SharePoint sites
o    Must be able to communicate well both verbally and in writing
o    At least 10 years of experience to include aviation material readiness policies/programs/practices and other organizational safety principles/practices/procedures.
o    Must possess a valid driver’s license
o    All candidates will be required to pass Drug Screenings

Education Required:
o    BS or BA in Engineering, Logistics, Science or a “Related Technical Discipline” Allowable Substitution:  An Additional four (4) years of experience can be substituted for a BS or BA degree.

Security Clearance:
•    Ability to obtain and maintain US DoD Secret Security clearance, throughout employment.

Work Conditions:
Conditions will vary. This position requires both laboratory and field work and candidates will often be required to work outdoors on elevated platforms and be capable of frequent stair climbing, with and without equipment. Work will include sitting, standing, walking, lifting and reaching.
