St. Mary’s College of Maryland at Historic St. Mary’s City is accepting résumés for the position of Assistant Director of Events & Conferences. This position is a vital part of the College’s efforts to put its best foot forward in delivering excellent customer service and showcasing its brand. The assistant director participates in all aspects of planning and executing year-round campus events, including scheduling, operations, volunteer supervision, event management, contracting, and follow-up. The position also takes primary responsibility for the successful daily operation of summer conferences, including logistics, key interactions with clients, hiring and supervision of student staff, and event preparations. Assisting the director with facility rentals is also a part of the job.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or higher with a minimum of two years of event management or event planning experience. The candidate must be able to learn and effectively manage database and event software and be willing to train others. Also, the candidate should have proven excellence in customer service and be able to handle multiple projects at one time and meet deadlines. Some evening, weekend and holiday work is required. Must possess a valid driver’s license and ability to lift approximately fifty (50) pounds. Any combination of acceptable education and experience, which has provided the necessary knowledge and skills to fulfill the requirements of this position, may be considered. Employment will be contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check.
