Job Title:  Youth Program Support Specialist

Reports To:  Youth Program Manager

Salary Range:  Grade 10, Step, 2-3, $36,983-$38,306

General Description

Under the general supervision of the Program Manager, this position will assist in the administrative support of The Youth and Young Adult Services Program.  The Youth Program Support Specialist will be responsible for answering the phones, taking messages, forwarding calls, pre-screening clients for eligibility, and managing the reception area in a neat orderly manner.


  • Greet customers entering the Youth and Young Adult American Job Center.
  • Answer telephones, provide information, take messages, transfer calls.
  • Assist with coordination and logistical support for events, including training events, meetings, and various other outreach events.
  • Contact clients and or referral sources for appointment reminders.
  • Inform staff when customers have arrived.
  • Inform staff if customers have cancelled appointments.
  • Create and maintain a welcoming environment to clients that fosters a client-centered focus.
  • Respond to inquiries in a manner that promotes the program and agency’s mission, beliefs and values.
  • Complete information and referral forms in response to community inquires.
  • Provide information on community services to callers and walk-in clients.

  • Knowledge of basic office equipment.
  • Good oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Good public speaking skills for workshop delivery
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn the Maryland Workforce Exchange
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment in carrying out responsibilities.
  • Ability to be flexible in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Data entry and record keeping.
  • Maintain confidentiality with client and organizational information.
  • Ability to maintain composure under pressure.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Education and Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent is required, as well as direct administrative assistance work. experience in social work, psychology, or related human services field preferred. Knowledge of workforce and career preparation programs and services is preferred. Bilingual (fluent) in Spanish highly preferred.

  • Frequent travel to local businesses, American Job Centers and TCCSMD Headquarters will be required and/or virtual meetings via virtual platforms.
  • Must have daily access to a vehicle, a valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record.
  • Must pass a background check.
  • May be required to work some evenings and weekends, as necessary.
