The William W. Winpisinger Education and Technology Center has one (1) opening for a full-time Security Guard & Utility Worker at the entry level of $19.54/hour. This position provides a competitive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance; a pension and 401(k); and paid vacation, sick, and holiday leave. The position is in a union-represented bargaining unit covered by a collective bargaining agreement. The schedule for this position is Tuesday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., working Grounds/Utility and Friday and Saturday, 11 p.m. to 7 a.m., working as Security Guard.

Applicants must be qualified, able to work the scheduled shifts, and perform the duties of the position including but not limited to those described below.

When working the Grounds-Utility Assistance shift, the Grounds Keeper Lead Person will assign duties including turf, lawn, garden equipment maintenance, snow removal/deicing, and other grounds and building maintenance. Management may further assign duties including the following:  

• Pick up supplies/material for Winpisinger Center projects
• Transporting members to and from D.C. metropolitan-area airports (CDL not required)
• Trips to IAM Headquarters (Upper Marlboro, MD)
• Assisting with Media Annex shipping and receiving, and classroom setup
• Working the shifts of security guards on vacation and/or sick leave

When working the Security Guard shift, management will assign duties including: 

• Making scheduled rounds of the facilities and following all security procedures/requirements
• Keeping an accurate and up-to-date log book; observing and reporting needed facility maintenance
• Courteously assisting members and co-workers in-person and over the phone

The Security Guard must satisfactorily complete Security Guard training and obtain and maintain credentials in CPR/AED.
