JOB DESCRIPTION –ROWE WIRE MACHINE OPERATOR

A.      GENERAL – The Wire Machine Operator reports to the Rowe Production Manager and performs duties associated with the safe and proper operation of the wire extrusion machinery in production. The duties include, but are not limited to;

 

1.       Setup and adjustment of wire coating machinery

a.       Perform proper setup and assembly to ready the wire coating line for production.

                       &nbs p;Use the SMP (Standard manufacturing procedure) and the production order to effect proper machine setup in a timely manner.

              ii.      Inspect product labels and labelling requirements.

                      Usi ng the spool assignment, obtain proper wire spool and verify using tag and visual inspection.

                              iv.      Pull appropriate printwheel for the production run and verify the proper wheel with another qualified operator.

                  v.      Review material requirements and verify prior to startup.

                            vi.      Report ANY discrepancies to the operations manager before starting line.

                            vii.      ENSURE that there is a suitable cutoff tool to cut the conductor in the event of an equipment issue.

                             viii.      Double check all settings are in accordance with the SMP.

2.       Perform initial startup of production line

a.       Perform startup of the extrusion and get product on size per SMP.

b.       Adjust the centering and mark the extruded jacket to determine center and orientation.

c.       Stop the line and verify center measurements as well as required wall thickness, concentricity, and OD.

d.       Repeat a and b as needed to get proper centering.

e.       When product is within specification, submit “1 st piece” to QC for approval.

f.        Isolate and record any non-conforming product

g.       When approved, continue production run using take-up information on the production order and measurement requirements and testing in accordance with the SMP.

3.       Closely monitor the production run

a.       Use approved inspection methods and SMP to ensure product stays within specification.

b.       Make necessary adjustments during the production run as needed.

c.       Record any issues or “spark” events.

d.       Record inspection frequencies on the SMP copy.

4.       Utility functions to include ;

a.       Collecting, documenting, and arranging spent conductor spools

b.       Receiving and storing incoming materials.

c.       Collecting and recording scrap materials.

d.       Assist in packaging functions.

e.       Respoooling wire product as needed.

f.        Assisting in secondary operations – braiding / coating, etc.

5.       Inventory or RM, packaging materials, and/or finished goods

a.       Weekly inventories of rubber and additives.

b.       “Working” inventory of spools and boxes

c.       Inventory of finished goods

d.       Retrieval and recording of “tagged” inventory items.

 

B.      REQUIRED SKILLS  - The Wire Machine Operator should have  experience in an industrial setting  as well as experience in inventory functions  and have as a minimum the following skills;

1.       Excellent math skills

a.       Math skills are required for inventory functions.

b.       Proper use of math to determine adherence to specifications.

2.       Organization skills

a.       Must have excellent organization skills to ensure proper inventory and traceability.

3.       Forklift operation

a.       Must be able to operate and pass the test for forklift operation to facilitate storage of materials.

C.       Working conditions and hours.

1.       The working environment requires general manufacturing environment, no travel. . The following requirements therefore apply;

a.       The employee shall dress appropriately to properly and safely perform the necessary functions

b.       Hours are to be 8am to 5pm Monday through Friday as standard but vary widely due to manufacturing schedule requirements and in the case of Rowe employees may be offset.

D.      Compensation

a.       Compensation varies with experience.
