St. Mary’s College of Maryland is accepting résumés for the contingent position of Study Abroad and Away Adviser, reporting to the Director of International Education. This position is responsible for various phases of advising for students interested in and pursuing international education opportunities while at SMCM, including marketing and recruitment and application management. The adviser assists with the maintenance of internal databases and process documents, liaising with academic programs, as needed, and communicating with internal and external stakeholders linked to the Office of International Education. This is an on-site full-time contingent position, with a projected maximum of 36-40 hours per week. This new position offers support to the Office of International Education in alignment with the commitment to internationalization efforts outlined in SMCM’s new Rising Tide Strategic Plan.
Qualifications: B.A. in international relations, international education management, student affairs, higher education, international studies, or other related fields is required, M.A. preferred. Some prior demonstrated experience in international travel and/or study abroad is required. At least two years of working in a related field, with three to five years preferred. Strong communication skills and attention to detail are essential. Conversational proficiency in a language other than English is a plus. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Any combination of acceptable education and experience, which has provided the necessary knowledge and skills to fulfill the requirements of this position, may be considered. Employment will be contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check. The hourly pay is $26.50 to $28.80 hourly, depending on qualifications and experience.
